GROUNDED IN
People & Planet
We believe the health of the earth and the health of her people are one and the same. That's why every decision we make honors that connection—from soil to supplement, from farm to community. Here's how we're putting purpose into practice.
Regenerative & Organic Farming
On our 350-acre farm nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, we cultivate certified organic herbs with practices that go beyond sustainability—they actively restore. Regenerative farming means building soil health, supporting biodiversity, and protecting the ecosystems that make potent plants possible.
Through thoughtful crop rotation, nutrient-rich composting, and gentle tillage, we improve land resilience and lock more carbon in the soil.
Carbon Neutrality & Waste Reduction
We're relentless about reducing our footprint—from the byproducts of our herbal supplements to the emissions we produce. That's why we monitor and report on our company-wide greenhouse gas emissions, and track carbon sequestration on our Farm to measure the real impact of our regenerative practices.
Waste is no exception. We carefully measure everything that leaves our facilities, our Farm, and our supply chain—then work tirelessly to send less to landfills. These efforts help us understand our full environmental impact and guide every sustainability decision we make.
Sustainable Packaging
We choose glass because it's good for you and good for the earth. Infinitely recyclable and endlessly reusable, glass leaves a lighter footprint than nearly any other packaging material.
But it's not just about the planet. Glass also protects what's inside—shielding our herbal supplements from light and air to preserve their purity, potency, and shelf life. It's packaging that performs, and then does it again.
Ethical Sourcing & Fair Trade Practices
We source herbs from across the globe—always with an emphasis on fair trade, sustainability, and transparency. Every supplier must meet our rigorous environmental and social standards, and our Seed-to-Supplement traceability program ensures you can follow any ingredient back to its roots.
But our commitment doesn't end at the border. At home, our employees are our most important stakeholders. That's why we're proud to be Living Wage Certified, and why we offer comprehensive wellness benefits—including fresh organic vegetables from our farm, exclusive product discounts, and support for both on-site and remote team members. Because the people who bring our herbs to life deserve to thrive, too.
Social Impact & Wellness Initiatives
We believe in giving back—to the communities around us and the world beyond. That means donating herbal supplements to those in need, investing in environmental restoration, and partnering with organizations that expand access to health education and natural products.
It also means empowering our own team. Every butterfly’s tear® employee receives 20 hours of paid volunteer time off each year to support mission-aligned organizations in their local communities.
